Jennifer Melvin, MSW, LCSW
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed School Counselor, and Licensed School Social Worker with over 20 years of experience working in the field of mental health in school and community settings. I hold a Master's Degree in Clinical Social Work from the University of Pittsburgh and a Master's in School Counseling from the University of Colorado Denver. My specialty is working with adolescents, college students and adults who are struggling with mental health issues, trauma, relationships and life transitions as well as school and career-related challenges.
I draw from a combination of evidence-based practices including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) trauma resolution therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and skill-based techniques. I integrate these practices to offer a holistic approach in my work with clients. My style is strengths-based, direct, collaborative, and guided by compassion. I encourage clients to take an active role in therapy. Together we focus on creating a balance between deeply accepting and appreciating yourself and strengthening your ability to successfully cope with life's challenges.
I've lived in the Boulder area for over two decades and have also raised a family here. This time has given me a deep appreciation and respect for the community, and a dedication to the well-being of its members. I look forward to helping you find solutions to overcome the challenges you face and working together toward positive change.
