Life Transitions

Life transitions are critical events that can happen at any age, often causing us to re-examine our sense of who we are. They may be positive or negative, planned or unexpected, simple or challenging. Life transitions can also be significant sources of stress. I provide support and guidance during these times by teaching life skills and self-care to help you overcome the challenges that can accompany the change. The goal is to help you develop healthy coping mechanisms while using this opportunity to assess the direction life is taking and as a chance to grow and learn. Common transitions I address are: starting college, changing careers, moving, marriage, relationship status change, starting a family, recovering from death, and divorce.

Self-esteem

Self-esteem is the confidence we have in our own capabilities, and the value and respect we have for ourselves. Yet sometimes our self-perceptions cause us to doubt ourselves and deplete our confidence. Our time together will help you to recognize and overcome negative thought patterns, opinions, and beliefs about yourself as well as to identify limiting behaviors and attitudes. We will focus on your strengths, learn self-compassion, and build self-confidence to gain a stronger sense of how you perceive yourself and your personal worth.

Relationships

Our relationships are an important part of our lives, yet at times they can be tricky to navigate. Therapy is an opportunity for you to confront your personal issues and dynamics, and identify how they might affect your relationships. We will explore your feelings, thoughts, and behaviors to help you better understand yourself and work towards personal growth. You will learn skills that improve mental health and help you to foster and maintain healthy relationships in all aspects of your life.

Stress Management

Experiencing stress is a natural part of life and a normal response to a challenging life event. However, sometimes stress takes a toll on our physical and mental well-being. While you can’t eliminate stress, I can help you better manage it using physical, cognitive, and relaxation techniques. In our time together we will utilize positive tools and strategies to reduce the negative impacts of stress and optimize your ability to cope positively, providing you with improved physical, mental, and emotional health.

Time Management and Organizational skills

Time management is the process of organizing and planning how to divide your time between different activities. Organizational skills are the abilities that let you stay focused on different tasks, and help you use your time, energy, strength, mental capacity, and physical space more effectively and efficiently to achieve the desired outcome. We will work on identifying and eliminating unproductive habits and creating new, more constructive ones. I can provide you with techniques that facilitate problem solving, prioritizing and completing tasks, and setting realistic goals to help you work smarter not harder. Honing these skills will improve your productivity, lessen stress and empower you to find greater balance in life.
