About

Jennifer Melvin, MSW, LCSW

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed School Counselor, and Licensed School Social Worker with over two decades of experience working in the field of mental health in school and community settings. I hold a Master's Degree in Clinical Social Work from the University of Pittsburgh and a Master's in Counseling Psychology and Counselor Education from the University of Colorado-Denver. My specialty is working with teens, college students and adults on issues related to anxiety and depression, trauma, relationships and life transitions as well as school and career-related challenges.

I draw from a combination of evidence-based practices including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) trauma resolution therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and skill-based techniques. I integrate these practices to offer a holistic approach in my work with clients. My style is strengths-based, direct, collaborative, and guided by compassion. I encourage clients to take an active role in therapy. Together we focus on creating a balance between deeply accepting and appreciating yourself and strengthening your ability to successfully cope with and overcome life's challenges.

I look forward to working together on developing solutions that lead to positive change. When requested, my affectionate, cheerful Golden Lab, Hudson, known for providing unconditional affection and comfort, will join sessions.
